Vidéographe is pleased to announce it will present a number of works at the 46th Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal, which will run from 4 – 15 October 2017.

WORLD PREMIERE OF A YOUNG INNU DIRECTOR’S DEBUT FILM  

Vidéographe is proud to present the world premiere of Kevin Bacon Hervieux’s feature-length documentary Innu Nikamu: Sing and Resist. Through the music that has accompanied the Innus throughout their history, Hervieux retraces the wonderful journey of the Festival de musique et des arts autochtones Innu Nikamu in Maliotenam. The film combines testimonies and performances by founders, musicians, artisans, and collaborators who have ignited hope in a wounded nation that now dares to believe that the re-appropriation of its language and culture may be possible after all. With the participation of: Florent Vollant, Koriass, Simple Plan and Willy Mitchell.

LEARN ABOUT CANADIAN EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA 

Vidéographe will present six experimental shorts and a feature film, all of which bear testimony to the great vitality of this genre in Canada.

A Canadian premiere
Two films by Mike Hoolboom, recipient of the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts in 2017 will be screened. His feature film From the Archives of the Red Cross revisits the short films produced by the Red Cross in eight chapters, each of which take a different formal approach. In Colour My World, abstracted imagery meets the evocative power of poetic text.

World premiere
Xavier Curnillon’s À tes pulsions shines the spotlight on choreographer and dancer Louise Bédard and dancer Justine Parisien-Dumais.
Fever Freaks by Frédéric Moffet revisits Pasolini and Burrough.
Filmmaker Louise Bourque explores the relationship breakup in Auto portrait / Self Portrait Post Partum.
Guillaume Vallée presents Kinski wanted Herzog to direct but he turned it down, which explores the creative yet stormy relationship between the actor and director. Watch the trailer+
